| Lupo is a quality city car but it only realistically seats two. It's fun to drive, economical, civilised and feels like a bigger car. But practicality is limited and it's not cheap. |

| Lupo is small but, being a Volkswagen, it's perfectly formed. It's a great town car for two people, but rear seats are minimal and only fit for children. The compact dimensions also mean that boot space is pretty minimal. It's good to drive with tidy handling, but around it bounces over rough surfaces and into pot holes. Other than that, refinement is good, with road and wind noise kept out of the interior quite effectively. There's a surprisingly wide range of petrol and diesel engines, ranging from the -slow but fuel-sipping to the seriously sporty. Despite its size this is a real Volkswagen, with high quality build and a simple but stylish interior. And as with other VWs, you pay for all this. Lupo holds its value quite well, the insurance is cheap, and some versions give over 60mpg. But some rival city cars show that you can buy more for less. |
